Biography
Born in Yemen, Abdo Nagi spent his early years working on the family farm as a goat herder. He came to England as a domestic servant, uneducated and seeking a new life. After completing A-levels and working at various jobs, Nagi began to discover his artistic abilities, first in painting and then through pottery, which he found a natural medium through which he could express himself. he achieved a BA (hons) degree from the university of Middlesex and his degree show at The mall galleries in 1988 was a notable success. Shows followed at The Crafts Coucil, (1991), The Contemporary Arts Society, (1992) and The Craft Potters Association, (1993). Nagi continued to have several more shows in the 1990s which were well received and his reputation as a potter began to attract much attention. Unfortunately, Nagi's career was cut short as he died suddenly at the age of 51.
