Guglielmo Ulrich
Guglielmo Ulrich (1904-1977) was a Milanese architect-designer whose works epitomise Italian modernism’s distinct blend of elegance and craft. Trained at the Politecnico di Milano, his career includes co-founding Arredamento Casa in 1930, a home-furnishing company, and exhibitions at multiple Trienniali throughout the 1950s.
Designs favour refined, tapered structures in precious woods such walnut, rosewood, and mahogany, often paired with leather or woven cane; his prize-winning chair silhouettes are lean and architectural with pencil thing legs, fluidly-sculpted backrests and crisp joinery. He strikes a delicate balance between lightness and structural clarity, marrying classical proportion with modern architecture and restraint.
